The Wits Trio will perform three extraordinary works by Mozart, Babajanian and Brahms at the Odeion concert hall of the University of the Free State. This forms part of the concert series presented by the music department of the UFS.
The programme to be performed:
Piano trio in E major, KV 542 by W.A. Mozart
Piano trio in f-sharp minor by Arno Babajanian
Piano Trio in C major, Opus 87 by J. Brahms
Wits Trio has been in existence since 2012 and the members are Zanta Hofmeyr (violin), Susan Mouton (cello) and Malcolm Nay (piano). They are based in Johannesburg and became well-known for their interpretations of Schubert, Brahms, Mendelssohn and Beethoven trios at the Grahamstown National Arts Festival and their performances throughout South Africa. They are the first ensemble to perform the Babajanian trio in South Africa.
